The All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) held a symposium on September 10 to discuss how to implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's instructions on stressing families and family education and traditions, and how to enhance the effectiveness of the family work in a more targeted way.
Shen Yueyue, President of the ACWF, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech, emphasizing the continuous efforts to improve services for families with different characteristics and needs, while taking the promotion of family work as a long-term task.
Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, gave a speech at the symposium.
Experts and representatives of the women's federations at the grassroots level exchanged ideas and offered suggestions at the symposium.
Shen noted it is necessary to have a deeper understanding of the importance of family work and the rich connotation of family work in the new era, making continuous efforts in promoting regular family work while focusing on families, family education and family traditions.
Shen stressed the need to deeply analyze the current situation and new issues that are arising, especially to understand the need, expectations and difficulties of the impoverished families, those with veterans in need or elementary and middle school students, and to take targeted measures, enhance favorable policy support and offer them care and assistance according to their diversified demands.
Shen urged grassroots women's federations to increase service awareness and enhance the service capabilities.
Meanwhile, a sound mechanism is expected to be established to learn about the demands of families, provide professional voluntary services, and strengthen links and coordination.
Cai Shumin, Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, introduced the ideas and measures formed by the women's federations to strengthen family building and family education and traditions.
